Should the name of India rename to Bharat?

The popular news in these days is, Should the name of India rename to Bharat?

Let’s discuss what is the actual name of this region.

According to Article 1 of the Indian Constitution is ‘India, that is Bharat’ means India is Bharat. Actually, the oldest name of the country is Bharat. This name is written in Vishnu Purana and oldest scriptures. A story, that is very popular, is that of a brave and powerful king whose name was Bharat. Once he had fought with a lion. Not only fought with the lion but also won and controlled the lion under himself. He was the ancestor of Pandavas, Kauravas and so on. Since he was the powerful ruler of the entire region so the name of this region was kept Bharat.

Bharat, the Vishva guru, is a very progressive regime in ancient times. It is the hub of knowledge. So, the pupils and travelers came to acquire knowledge in Bharat. On the way, they had to cross a river, which is known as Sindhu, to reach into Bharat. They gave the name of this river 'Indus' and whose people lived near the Indus, they were called Hindus by the people of middle Asia. But the religion of Hindus was ‘Sanatan’ not Hindu. After that this region was also called ‘Hindustan’.

Under the British rule, the name of this regime was kept ‘India’ by the Britishers. The word India comes from ‘Indus’. Now, India is not only the name of a country but it is a brand of the world. Currently, India is the identity of our country but actual and original name of this country is Bharat. If India is the identity of this country, Bharat is our emotion.

If we go a flashback of geopolitics news, we may see that ‘Italy has banned English’ this is not because it has any issues with the English language. Language is only a means or medium to communicate with others and so on. The real reason to ban the English language is that they don’t want to lose or make disappear their own culture, language, and identity. Actually, every single word has a root word and the history, culture, emotion, and so on are hidden in root words.

Thus, it’s only a part of identity politics.
